Linked OKR Key Result can be used when Key Result’s progress is based on the progress of other Objectives or Key Results, one or more Objectives or Key Results or a combination of both can be selected. Linked OKR Key Result’s progress is automatically updated based on the progress of the included Objectives and Key Results. A typical use case will be parent team OKRs that are based on the progress of child teams can use Linked OKR to automatically update Parent OKRs based on the progress of child OKRs.
Key Result based on other Objectives or Key Results
To create a Linked OKR, follow the steps provided in the create OKR to enter objective fields, and for the Key Result follow the below steps
1. Enter Key Result Name
Key Result names should be short, concise, and highly recommended to include measurable values. The icon next to the Key Result Name field will be red if the Key Result name field does not have a numeric value. This is not an error, it is to help the users to ensure Key Results names are measurable.
2.Enter Unit as Linked OKR
Select Linked OKR in the Unit dropdown. Once Linked OKR is selected the target will be automatically set to 100% and cannot be changed.
3.Enter Linked OKRs
Click the Linked OKR icon next to the Linked OKR Unit field to open the Linked OKR screen,
- Select Objective or Key Result
- Search for the required Objective or Key Result and select it
- Enter weight for each item, total weight should be equal to 100
- Click Save to return to the main OKR screen.
4.Enter Weight
Enter the weight for the Key Result to calculate the progress for the Objective.
5.Select Confidence
Select the initial confidence for achieving the key result’s target.
6.Enter Contributors (Optional)
Enter any additional user/users as contributors for the Key Result. Contributors can also update the Key Result’s progress along with the Owner of the Key Result.
7.Enter Deadline (Optional)
Enter a custom deadline for the Key Result if it is different from the end date for the period selected for the OKR. The deadline date should be between the start and end dates of the period selected.
Add more Key Results and Save or Save & Activate the OKR. Progress for linked OKR is automatically updated through a batch program based on the progress of the included Objectives and Key Results.
Information: For Linked OKR
- Type is defaulted to increase
- Starting value should be 0
- Target is defaulted to 100%
- Frequency is defaulted to daily as the progress is updated automatically
